Last October 1st during our officers meeting, we agreed to launch our Pa Kristmas ki Nene saka ki Nonoy. A special treat to the indigent children of San Miguel, Catanduanes in the Bicol Region. The object of this drive is to give indigent kids, gifts this coming 2011 Christmas. ATLAS Shipping one of the well known Balikbayan box carriers here in Houston, Texas volunteered to shipped this EIGHT Jumbo Balikbayan boxes for FREE again!.
Bicol USA Officers & Members and some Texas TXDot employees took part on this drive by donating new and used toys, shoes/slippers, clothes, stuff toys, books and many more. Bicol USA donated assorted kind of chocolates to be given away to our indigent kids this coming Christmas. I would like to thank our donors specially ATLAS Shipping, Ed & Mila Dimacali, Aide Morrow, Thien Nguyen, Alvi Dimacali, Juvee Usero, Albino Cu, Jimbo and Rowena Torres, Mene and Jinky Dimaano, Winky Pabico and Fannie Melgarejo.
Special thanks to Henry/Mayette Flores, Ed Dimacali, Winky Pabico, Jimbo/Rowena Torres, Joan/Baba Cruz and Jinky Dimaano who help in sorting and packaging. We were able to send 8 boxes plus the wheel chair and Medical stretcher donated by ATLAS Shipping last Sunday October 16.
Dra. Elva M. Joson, M.D. currently the Rural Health Officer of San Miguel, Catanduanes and a member of Bicol USA recieved the 8 boxes last Dec 1, 2011. Boxes were unpacked resorted and ready for distribution.
The gifts were distributed last December 22, 2011. Dra. Elva M. Joson, M.D. said that.
"In behalf of our Municipal Mayor, Edna R. Bernal and the constituents of San Miguel specifically of Brgys. Tobrehon and Tucao, I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to all the members of Bicol-USA Houston Chapter, Inc and Atlas Shipping, who in one way or another had made 150+ indigent children and their parents HAPPY with the toys, clothing, shoes and foods you have sent. With the help of my co-health workers, we visited these 2 far flung places located in the mountainous area of San Miguel.
